Young women training at the Assunta Center to become seamstresses are practising on old Singer pedal sewing machines. While these have the benefit of being durable and are rather useful considering the frequent power outages, they do not permit some of the more sophisticated patterns that have made Senegalese tailors famous.
L2H is financing the replacement of the pool of old machines with overlock sewing machines. This will enable the students to produce work with a professional finish.
